Pricing has definitely gone up. sometimes ridiculous. an item from the dollar store USED is 1.41!! Kids play with the toys, and tear them apart. Check clothes for stains, and holes. They don't. Only 17% of profits go to Lupus. I have found some good bargains.
I have been shopping here since it first opened. Items that used to be 69 cents are priced much higher now. There is little consistency in the pricing. New items that have tags on them are sometimes priced higher than their original price. I saw 2 boxes of the same game. One game was marked $1.91 and the other was marked over $3. Both had all of the pieces...so this did not make sense. When buying a gameor toy, you need to be careful that all of the pieces are in the boxes...they do not check. People let their children play with the toys unattended and they make a mess. On the plus side, items are organized well by category and size. There is rotating stock. Books are a great deal and so is the furniture when you find something decent. Clothing is a hit or miss..Very worn clothing is priced that same as gently worn and there is no consistency there either. I stop by this and the other Unique stores frequently and usually end up purchasing something.
A big store with a big selection. There are linens as well as clothing, and a few books and home items. You will find some designer names here and some no-name brands. Everything is well organized, sorted by size and type. There is a limit of three items in the fitting room, with a snooty employee standing outside to enforce it (and no place to leave extra items while you go in). However, the biggest problem is the prices. Not too bad for tailored items like jackets, but I also saw T-shirts selling here for more than brand-new ones at a discount store in the same strip mall. Worth a look if you're in the area, but don't expect super deals.
Been shopping here for many years. Have found good quality clothing at fair prices. Every Monday, all items are 25% off unless it's a holiday, then everything is 50% off. Thursdays are also 25% with their VIP card. Can't beat it! Organized store, helpful staff. Big Lots and Shoppers World are in the same strip mall plus Hibachi Grill with a huge AYCE buffet for $7.95. With all this, you need not go anywhere else. Bargain shopping bliss!
Dirty clothes they donot launder them first. they sell used toiletries etc, very few employees speak much english and may not even be legal.I have encountered a few store managers there that were helpful but there was an asian man and a white man about 55 years old who were very rude and mean to me.the prices they ask for this stuff is very high. They try to make you think it is for charity but it is really a for profit store. They buy the items from the lupus charity and they sell it for as much as they can.if you research the company like i did you can see the owner flies around in jets and has millions of dollars, while the charitiy only gets a small bit of money when this store buys the stuff in lots.go to the real charities like catholic charities and goodwill where people benefit not some millionaire. This is fact check for yourself.
Best to shop here on discount days - 25% off on Mondays, and Thursdays with free VIP card. Prices range from good, to very high for a thrift store. One note of caution about this specific Unique. There is a cop (short, with tattoos, and a buzz cut) who is sometimes there on busy days. If you are black he will follow you around the store, or try to look inconspicuous while eying you from a short distance away. Amazing thing to experience in a store filled with low-income people of all races, that this moron singles out one group
This store is a non profit store. All their proceeds go to Lupus research. I have seen a doctor in scrubs and a lady in a fur coat which she may have purchased at this shop. It is great and every holiday that falls on a Monday all merchandise is 50% off. Every Monday you get 25% off. Every shelf is organized, every article of clothing is on a hanger, every hat on a peg and there are no boxes to dig through.
My first experience was not a good one. Half the store was extremely hot and although I was one of only half a dozen customers, it took FOREVER to check out. But I gave it a second chance and bought a few good things. Pricing doesn't always make sense, but bargains can be found, and all linens and clothing is clean and well displayed. A great place to shop for clothes for everyone in the family.
