This is one of my favorites because the staff is so friendly and they are constantly getting new items. They also provide a necessary service to the community so I don't mind paying an extra dollar or two for something I like. They do have a weekly sale day to clear things out. I do have to admit, though, sometimes an item will be way overpriced for whatever reason, but for most items, you're getting a good deal and you're re-using, recycle cling, etc.
I selected one of a group of 3 blender jars grouped together on a shelf and being sold separately! They were priced $4 and $5 but one was not priced so I asked how much? I was told it belonged with a base but after looking there was no correct base for it in the store. The jar was with the 2 other jars being sold separately! I was told I could not purchase it even though it had been on the shelf for sale with the others. I would have paid any price he quoted. How often does the person needing that type of jar come in the store? Doesn't a charity store want to have happy satisfied customers? I won't be recommending this store to anyone!
Prices & value are inconsistent; a fine quality large original framed painting of a Oaxacan festival by a talented artist cost me less than $50, but other items can be overpriced. I don't know why others have problems with the staff; Jimmy and the other folks are always very friendly and helpful to us...
Catholic Charities assumed management and staffing in August 2006. This is a valuable community aset as it provides no-cost merchandise to its clients and adds value-priced merchandise to the public.
