This is a warning to anyone who donates to The Caring Place, most of your items end up in the landfill. I had the misfortune of volunteering and shopping there. I saw on many occasions staff trashing perfectly functional items for the sake of space. One volunteer trashed pictures and purses she deemed ugly in order to put more items out. A customer asked to purchase the pictures at a discount and the girl refused as she wheeled the items to the back. Seriously, discount items to move them!! I used to shop there often, but now the place makes me disgusted. Do not shop there or donate items you want to find a new home. Take your chances with Goodwill instead!

Stay away from this place!!! I Could overlook the dirty, smelly merchandise they sell because the prices were good but the people running this place now are some of the rudest people I have ever met! After being a patron of The Caring Place, buying from them as well as donating to them for 15 years, I was falsely accused of "changing prices" on some of their merchandise by their 'security' person and asked to leave the store and not return. I was absolutely shocked and appalled and told him that was not true and he was dead wrong about what he was saying. After composing myself I asked to see the manager and was told I would have to talk to the cashier first and if she deemed it necessary she would get the manager. I told the cashier my story and she didn't seem to care and said that he had been following me! WHAT? At this point I broke down in tears and had to leave. I called back and talked to the manager and told her my side of the story and she just said "If you want to write a report and submit it to me I will consider it". I told her if this is what your store has become then I want no part of it and you will never get another dime from me. I was completely humiliated and treated like a criminal when they had absolutely no prook or evidence that I had done what I was being accused of because it didn't happen!!! This has got to be one of the worst experiences of my entire life but they are the ones who have to live with themselves and the lord knows the truth.

The Caring Place is a wonderful place to visit. They have nicer items and everything is priced to still be quite a bargain. The new building helps them to be able to make the store more welcoming.

I love the mission aspect of this thrift, but it is mostly run by retirees and they price things as though they are all antiques. About the only thing I buy are books and magazines.
